Dear Family!
Holy
cow! How come we were never that busy when I was home? ;) haha I am so glad you
guys have so much going on! Makes me excited to hear how everything turns out! I
was just thinking about Kerragyn and her piano playing a couple days ago! Glad
she is sticking with it! I’ll tell ya, being out on a mission I wish I could
play piano. It’s such a service here in the mission! Missionaries here always
play the piano in their wards and in the MTC as well. It will defiantly benefit
those you serve if you decide to serve a mission that is :) If not, it will
still bring much happiness to your family and your ward. Cannot wait to hear
about Eben’s field trip! Going to be sooo much fun!! I miss my mountains sooo
much! In the MTC I would in get into arguments with people from Utah because
they think they have mountains, pssh, no! hahah! I miss the beautiful scenery
but I looove it here!! The sun is great and my fingers don't turn purple! Haha!
Yes, you do get used to the humidity here. When you first get here you don't
think so but it happens.
I
don't drink milk anymore, only in cereal and I drink like 8 glasses of water a
day and I feel so good! Why did I like milk so much? So weird but yeah I cut
dairy except for yogurt and cheese that's all I can handle or I get sick. I
love buying food and I am doing good thinking of meals. I am a bargain shopper
with food. Who knew you could get so much with $50!
So
we had another baptism this week! I will send a picture. It was awesome, such a
good experience. We weren't able to go to the sealing of a family in our ward
but we get to go to the temple on the 20th so I am counting down the days! Let’s
see, so, more about my area. Hialeah is a really poor area. There is no such
thing as a two story house here. It was weird this week, I went on an exchange
with the sister training leaders, they serve in Pines which is 20 min away but
it is one of the richer areas in Florida and it is amazing. It’s amazing the
change in just 20 minutes from really poor to really rich. When I was in that
area I was thinking why couldn’t I have been this blessed to serve in this area
with a nice apartment, nice people? (it was an English speaking area) But then
I found out how hard it was. Because people there think they have everything
and don’t need God which made tracting or as we call it harvesting really hard.
When I got back to Hialeah I was grateful that I am serving in such a humble
area where people listen to us and want to know more. Where we are able to have
success even if it can be difficult at times. I wouldn't trade for anything. So everyone
here as a mango tree so we just pluck mango and eat them. Sooo good!! When
people great each other they kiss. That was hard to get used to but now it’s
fine and I am not that weirded out by it. We don't do it with the boys obviously,
lol. One thing I found out about my
companion is she snores really loud so, I have not have had a good night sleep
in a while and will be buying ear plugs haha! But she is awesome and is helping
me so much with Spanish and teaching me how great this work is!
A
quote I want to share with you is “Give us mountains, give us these challenges.
Accomplishing the purpose God has put us here to achieve, will bring out
promised blessings that God has pledged to give us. God is blessing you for the
mountains you are climbing and the people he trusts you with because of your obedience
and diligence in opening your mouth" I like this because God gives us
mountains so we can grow learn and fulfill his plan. I agree with you, we need
challenges. It’s what makes us stronger and if our kids see us struggling they
can learn too. They can learn how to handle a situation like that when they are
older. What I have learned is that trials are good because they mold us into
what he wants us to be. Also some scriptures I like are 1 John"7-8 and Helaman
5:10-11.
This
week has been hard with appointments and finding new investigators. We only
have one progressing right now and had to drop a lot of our other ones. People
have been rude! It was just a hard week
but as me and my companion talked we realized that Christ had people spit in
his face, say rude things and reject him completely and yet he still loved
them. How can we expect this work to be easy if it wasn't easy for him? We
learned that we need to love and serve everyone because that's what Christ did
and we are representatives of Christ so we must follow in his footsteps even
when it is hard. Oh and one more thing they have guava and leche donuts! Okay
back to spiritual, I know with all my heart that this work is true and that miracles
do happen. This week we were given a mountain but I know through our love and
service we can overcome it and find new investigators and progress in our work!
I am so glad Heavenly Father asked me to serve. I read a scripture in Moroni
6:4 and it says Christ is the author and finisher of our faith and I have a
strong testimony of that. This week we were teaching a Jehovah’s Witness and
she was telling stuff about her church and we were sharing stuff about our
church and as we testified about what we believed we could feel the sprit sooo
strong. She said she would not change and even though the lesson was a bust we
realized that maybe it wasn't for her but for us. Because of that experience my
testimony grew as I realized that this church is true what I am teaching is
true and I am so grateful for the knowledge I have. I love you. I can tell you
one of the greatest services is missionary work. :) I love you guys sooo much! Miss
you! So glad you liked the package!! :))))
Love Hermana Heacock.
